God Doesn't Do Anything Half-Way

Updated: Jan 23, 2021

Have you ever pondered this? Or sat in wonder of what God has done?

He is not like us, you know. He doesn’t slack off or let up on anything He does. He is consistently faithful and true. If you haven’t read my previous post titled, “Faithful and True”, I would recommend reading it. You will enjoy the truth there which speaks of His abiding love.

Now, let’s look at some characteristics of what God says and does:

1) It is final or it is finished. The best example of this is what He did for us on Calvary. Just as He said…”It is finished.” That means, completed, done! Nothing else, ever, needs to be done for our salvation. God has paid our penalty IN FULL, forever! Wow! Can you rest in that today?

2) He finishes what He started. The first thing that comes to my mind here is His Kingdom. Some 2000 years ago, Christ came to set the prisoners free and preach about the Kingdom of God being at hand. He has been saving souls and bringing believers into His family ever since and will continue until His Kingdom reigns on this earth.

This kingdom, God’s Kingdom, will never be destroyed. He finishes what He started! Let’s read from the book of Daniel 2:44. “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.”

Something else God finishes is us! When you and I believed on Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, He committed to bring us to heaven so we could live with Him forever! We belong to Him (Ephesians 2:13), we are the sheep of His pasture (Psalm 100:3), His beloved (John 15:9), His bride (Isaiah 54:5, Matthew 25: 1-13). He works in our lives to not only help us live out our faith in Him, but to become like Him.

Here are two scriptures I want us to hold onto:

Philippians 2:13, “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” And …

Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

He finishes what He started!

3) He means what He says.

First of all, I want to be clear about something. God wrote the bible using men led by the Holy Spirit. Which means the whole thing, in its entirety was written for you, by God, and everything in it is true. God does not lie and He means what He says. If you don’t agree with this, I implore you to click the “How to Know” link at the top of my web page.

So does God mean what He says? Oh yes!

When God says no, it’s no. and when He says yes, it’s yes. Matthew 5:37 says, “Let your yes be YES and your no be NO. Anything more than this comes from the devil.”

God is not playing around. When He says something, he means it. It’s not a joke. This could be a serious thing in your life. God gives us warnings, for example, to stay awake!

There are three passages I want us to remember here:

The first is, Luke 21:36. “But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

The second is, Matthew 24:42. “Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”

The third is, 1 Peter 1:13, “Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the Revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Are you awake? Are you sober-minded? I want you to hear His call.

Has He told you to do something and you haven’t done it? Please don’t delay! Your act of obedience could mean someone else’s salvation.

What else does God remind us of? Do the work of an evangelist! (2 Tim 4:5).

Every believer has a story to tell. Every believer can share the good news of

Our Lord Jesus Christ and what He has done for us.

Father, I pray, that you would stir up the hearts of your children to bring forth the good news, so that others can come to know you and have a relationship with you. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
